“Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give” (Matthew 10:8). of Thursday July 13, 2023
Jesus instructed the twelve apostles before sending them forth to minister to the people. He presented the desirable guidelines they were to follow in their ministry. The apostles clearly understood they had been uniquely selected by Jesus and had been given precious gifts of grace. Since spiritual blessings had been freely bestowed upon them, they, in turn, were to give these gifts to others, free of charge. We, who are the disciples of Jesus today, are to follow the original program—what we have received without cost, we are to give without cost. Selfishness is an anti-Christian attitude. The good things we have freely received are not only for ourselves but are also for others, who often have a greater need. The example of Jesus is a model for us.
