It is remarkable that the gospel writers, almost 2,000 years ago, would have given such a prominent place to women. For ourselves, if we were to point to the people who were most influential in our faith journey, many would point to a woman. Perhaps it was our mother, a religious sister, a female friend, or the witness of a female saint. From the time of Jesus until now, women have played a critical role in the faith—not to mention the mother of Jesus herself! Let us be grateful for these valiant women. Today, may we remember them with a special prayer.
