“But now you must put them all away: anger, fury, malice, slander…” (Colossians 3:8). of Wednesday September 13, 2023
While I’m not proud to admit it, there have been times in my life when I was angry with God. Surely, God could’ve prevented what I perceived to be injustices. I have been angry that a loved one was taken from this life far too soon (in my opinion). I have questioned why babies are born addicted to drugs, suffering terribly as they go through withdrawal. I wonder why people who have clearly committed evil acts are seemingly rewarded.
With faith and some perspective, we can begin to understand that such anger is a byproduct of worldly logic. And yet, the anger can persist. Today, may we endeavor to do as our first reading encourages and put our anger, among other things, away, allowing ourselves to be renewed.
